This year’s world-famous Blackpool illuminations will take place on 4 September 2020, assuming the current Coronavirus outbreak is under control.
Those wishing to attend the big switch-on can now enter the ballot to win a free wristband. Allocation is limited to four wristbands per household. The ballot closes at midday on Monday 3 August, register here. The local town council will make more announcement about how you can guarantee your place at the Switch-On party with Golden Circle ticket offers in the coming weeks.
The 2019 event attracted almost 20,000 people who enjoyed a line-up that included Busted, Diversity and Club MTV DJs R3wire & Varski. MTV has confirmed that they will be involved in the music side of the event once again.
Councillor Gillian Campbell, said: “We are thrilled that MTV is once again associated with our Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On celebration.
“Anyone who has been lucky enough to have been in the arena over the past few years will know that this is an unforgettable night of entertainment, and a fitting way to raise the curtain on our spectacular Blackpool Illuminations season.”

The announcements surrounding the illuminations wasn’t the only good news for Blackpool this week. Six lucky people in the town are celebrating after sharing a lottery jackpot!
The group of neighbours in Bathurst Avenue scooped £1000 each when their FY3 postcode landed the daily prize in the Postcode Lottery.
